Nigerian Emerging Political Leaders Forum to hold in Toronto
The Diaspora Edition of the Nigerian Emerging Political Leaders Forum is set to hold in Toronto Canada. Organised as part of The Africa Forum 2018, The Diaspora edition of the Nigeria’s Emerging Political Leaders Forum is a one day non-partisan, high level, multi-stakeholder conference that brings together African diaspora community and Nigerian stakeholders to facilitate dialogue and action on the challenges facing Youth and Diaspora Participation ahead of the 2019 Nigeria’s General Elections, and the opportunities for Diaspora participation in the political process in Nigeria.
The Forum has held in 3 regions of Nigeria (Lagos, Imo and Calabar) drawing 20, 000 attendees, as well in London, United Kingdom during The Africa Forum in January 2018. The January 2018 Edition which held at the UK House of Commons featured British MPs Jeremy Lefroy and Jim Shannon; Baroness and the Leader of the Nigerian House of Representative, The Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.
The event is hosted as part of a series of conscious efforts and action plans to fulfil the aspirations of the Agenda 2063 of an Africa whose youth shall be socially, economically and politically empowered through the full implementation of the African Youth Charter, An Africa of 2063 that will have full gender parity, with women occupying at least 50% of elected public offices at all levels; an aspiration achievable with the youth.
The Forum will provide a veritable platform for the generation of new Ideas, opportunity for networking, and discuss about responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all political levels in Nigeria.
